Corona Virus Statement. Update Summer 2022

As you know, we have monitored the effect of the pandemic in Rescue and have remained open with kennel space available and doing what we can to raise funds whenever possible.

Although government restrictions have been lifted, NAYBR are very aware that COVID‑19 is still prevalent and numbers continue to be concerning. The virus still features heavily on our risk assessments and we are continuing to monitor advice from the government and from DEFRA

We are carefully considering our own and other people's health and wellbeing and will take any precaution necessary to minimise risk whilst reviewing this policy as an ongoing issue.

Demand for dogs in the UK remains high but as we expected, dogs are starting to come into Rescue as normal life returns. With this in mind, we have now reopened the Adoption process for new applications, but we urge people to consider their long-term family / work life balance when considering any dog. Please do not apply or be tempted to consider a dog that will not fit with your circumstances however handsome, pretty, or cute they may look.

We know every dog is different and has different needs. So when we rehome, we need to give the dog the family that is right for it. We work hard when any dog comes into Rescue and will provide the help and advice to new owners if needed to give the dog the very best chance to flourish and be happy.

Our message remains simple, please be patient with rescues and please do not be tempted to look to puppy farms or ‘have a go’ breeders who can exploit the increase in demand. We are concerned that we will continue to see an increase in surrenders once everyone is back at work and back to their busy lives; the dogs they rushed out to buy during lockdown may not be part of their plans for the future.

We will of course keep you all updated as these trends and demands change.

Thank you for reading this and our Coordinators are on-hand to answer any questions you may have.
